From the Teachers

Joy is given in our deepest nature. We are wishing everyone never to be separate from their deepest joy. The rest has been confusion.
~ Lama John Makransky

Our Mission

To empower people with profound contemplative practices that support their aspirations to become better people and to make a better world.

FAC in Community

Here are some of the members of the Foundation for Active Compassion (FAC) Community describing how these practices are helping them in their daily life, in their work, and in their contributions to well being of others.

In 1999 Andria Whited had an identity crisis when she stopped being an actress. Seeking to find her way, she began a meditation practice. She was introduced to Lama John and natural wisdom and compassion meditation at her first Dzogchen retreat in 2003. In 2006 Andria completed Lama John's Vajrayana retreat. Lama John's accessibility and expert pith instructions quickly established him as her main teacher. His instructions, over the matter of a few minutes, cut through some of her long-held ego fixations. Andria has her LMSW certification and is currently the research monitor for the Institutional Review Board at the NYS Psychiatric Institute.

Andria teaches NWC Meditation in New York City at Tibet House and Union Theological Seminary.
